In Brooklyn, low income usually correlates with low trash-production, which makes sense intuitively: the fewer resources you’re able to consume, the less garbage you’ll create. Residents of Community Board 13 produce 50.8 pounds of trash per person per month, far below the per-community-district average of 66.4 pounds. CB13 also reports the second lowest median household income in the borough: $28,100, according to data from the Brooklyn Community Foundation. The second lowest trash-producing district (51 pounds/person/month) is CB16, which covers Brownsville and has the lowest median household income in Brooklyn: $23,400. [photo]
