Which Brooklyn Neighborhoods Produce the Most and Least Trash?

MOST: Borough Park/Kensington
Residents of Community Board 12 produce more garbage than anyone else in the borough: 76 pounds per resident per month. But as low incomes correlate with low trash numbers, the same isn’t true of high incomes: CB12 has a median household income of $36,800, which is about in the middle, maybe on the low side, compared to other parts of Brooklyn. The most well-off district, CB6 (Park Slope/Red Hook), with a median household income of $77,800, produces a just-below average amount of trash: 66 pounds. And the second highest trash-producing district (75.5 pounds), CB9, which covers Prospect Lefferts Gardens, also has a modest median income of $37,100. So, what do PLG and Borough Park have in common? I leave to you in the comments. [photo]
