The Perfect Prospect Park Walking Tour
Enter at Bartel-Pritchard Circle, right by the 15th Street F station (or take the R to Prospect Avenue and walk the several avenues up). Soon you’ll come to a fork; bear right.
You could stay on the main road, but if you pop over to the right, you’ll find a more picturesque path. You won’t be on it very long, but why not maximize the beauty? Main roads are ugly.
When that path breaks out into the open, go back to the main road—actually, to the jogger-traced dirt path along its left side.
Staying on that will bring you to the Bridle Path, which is technically for horses; make sure none are coming up behind you before you get on it, though you won’t be on it for long.
Follow the Path several yards before you come across this opening on your left. Welcome to your first secret trail! Once inside, if you go to your left, you’ll come up into the woods behind the ballfields. But if you go right, you’ll follow a lovely sylvan trail:
To your right, you’ll be able to see the main road through the leaves. A general rule of thumb in Prospect Park: if you’re ever on a main road, there’s probably a nicer trail hidden somewhere off to the side.
