The Southerner’s Guide To Brooklyn
WHAT TO BUY
Mason jars: Mason jars are some of the most charming and versatile objects in the world and we’re sure there’s a Martha Stewart Living article out there explaining all the amazing ways you can reuse them. Our own award for best reuse of a mason jar goes to Brooklyn’s W&P Designs who created the ingenious Mason Shaker, an exceptionally well-designed cocktail shaker for amateur bartenders everywhere. When you buy yours, make sure you pick up the accompanying cocktail guide, Shake, so you can impress the crap out of your friend this summer.
Beauty: New Yorkers do a lot of walking and our feet take the brunt of the damage. Lucky for us, there’s Southern Hospitality, a Brooklyn-based company committed to foot care. The product line is inspired by various aspects of Southern culture and many items have evocative names like Debonair and Sunday’s Best, but the majority of the line is inspired by Southern food and nature. Of particular note are the company’s Sweet Tea foot soak and Honeysuckle foot scrub, which are worth buying on the strength of their names alone. For now, Southern Hospitality can’t be found in any of Brooklyn’s brick-and-mortar shops, but everything can be ordered online.
