Joe Brancaccio does a lot of things well—very well—at his Windsor Terrace food shop, but he is perhaps best known (and justifiably so) for his eggplant caponata. Toeing the line between sweet and savory, the caponata is addictive and some people (we won’t name names, but it’s us) have been known to order a pound of it with the intention of making it last for a week, only to go home and eat the entire thing within 15 minutes. It’s that good. And! It’s on a sandwich accompanied by scrambled eggs, tender broccoli rabe and a healthy dollop of ricotta. Get it. Eat it. Get another. You’ll thank us later.
