Whenever lists of “essential items” for women get presented, they almost always include white shirts. Frankly, we used to think the inclusion of the white shirt was eye-roll worthy, but that was before we came across the A.P.C. Édith shirt which, despite being simple in design, is anything but ordinary. Perhaps it’s the soft poplin’s faint pattern of hammers (yes, hammers!) as delicate adornment, or perhaps it’s that the sleeves stop at the most elegant place on the wrist, or perhaps it’s the perfectly straight-up-and-down fit (or some combination of all three) that make it subtly rather than overtly feminine, but we can’t think of a shirt that feels as classic and, well, essential as this one.
