Crisis Alert: Hamptons Running Low on Rosé
It’s the end of August, so we’re all reaching a little bit here. But today’s prize for problem-that-is-not-a-problem news story goes to the New York Post‘s Page Six for this little number: “Rosé running dangerously low in the Hamptons.” As my learned colleague John Sherman put it: “Um, please define danger?”
Here is the crisis at hand: Hamptons vacationers are just drinking too darn much of the pink stuff!
We hear rumblings that restaurants and wine shops are low on local favorite Wölffer Estate, as well as imports like Domaines Ott and Chateau d’Esclans’ Whispering Angel, because the summering hordes have been tirelessly swilling all season long.
It’s gotten so bad in previous seasons that, the Post reports, in Labor Day 2012, some wine purveyor instituted a hard limit. Of four bottles per customer. The hardships, they never end. What’ll go next, the Pinot Grigio? That’s what we use to water the horses! Imagine.
