Brooklyn’s 10 Best (Fully Legal) Dispensaries
The highest state-sanctioned highs in the borough.
The cannabis legalization train keeps on chugging. After a whirlwind couple of years of delis and smoke shops flooding the streets with ganja, things have begun to settle down. Sure, you can still smell weed smoke wafting from most corners of the city, but those less-than-legal shops have largely been shut down, leaving a graveyard of gated storefronts adorned with unlit neon signs and artwork featuring punny pot jokes.
But when hundreds of doors close, dozens open in their place. State regulators’ plan for fully licensed, legal dispensaries to fill the void is slowly becoming a reality, with registered, taxed recreational pot shops popping up in neighborhoods across Brooklyn. Like the dispensaries, the New York weed industry itself is still relatively new, so most shops carry similar lists of brands and products, which they sell for similarly high (yeah, we know) prices. But while their menus are largely the same, the dispensaries set themselves apart through product volume, customer service, location, and, of course, vibes. So, in compiling this list, those are the criteria we considered. Here are our 10 favorite fully legal Brooklyn dispensaries, in no particular order.
The Travel Agency Downtown Brooklyn
Address: 122 Flatbush Ave.
Go for: The menu
The Travel Agency is already a staple in the NYC legal weed scene, with two locations in Manhattan and one in Downtown Brooklyn. A sleek and inviting store, Travel Agency carries one of the widest menus across product types, offering dozens of options each for flower, vapes, and a selection of edibles balancing national brands like Rhythm and Grassroots and local companies like Hudson Cannabis and Silly Nice. Customer service will help you navigate the expansive menu, and the store’s been putting on local events, like an upcoming comedy showcase. We love when weed is for the community.
BK Exotic
Address: 1056 Flatbush Ave.
Go for: The team
BK Exotic, Flatbush’s first legal dispensary, is aesthetically familiar, with walls covered in a mix of green faux vines and murals of Biggie and other local legends greeting you. The budtenders are friendly and happy to walk you through a menu focused on flower and edibles. There’s also a decent selection of vapes and a few concentrates, including top-shelf NY flower like To the Moon, reasonably priced bud from Splash, and much, much more. Can’t make it into the shop? No stress—BK Exotic delivers.
Hii NYC
Address: 152 Bedford Ave.
Go for: The vibes
Squeezed into the heart of Bedford in Williamsburg, Hii NYC has one of the borough’s most extensive menus, with so many strains of vape carts and nugs and edible flavors that it can be hard to choose. Thankfully, the folks at Hii are always down to point you in the right direction, and the open floorplan, no-nonsense shop is all about getting you the right product, no frills needed. With McCarren Park just a few blocks away from the storefront, the lengthy pre-roll selection is a particularly appealing section of the Hii menu, especially if you’ve got friends or family visiting from out of town.
Chronic Brooklyn
Address: 483 3rd Ave.
Go for: The pneumatic tubes
Chronic Brooklyn is an old-school retail experience in Gowanus chock-full of new-school weed. The store features a beautifully molded ceiling with fixtures, along with a series of pneumatic tubes that send product to your shopping bag, making it feel like an apothecary for all your pot-carrying needs. Pick from the flower menu, which features standouts from Dank, Flowerhouse, and more, as well as plenty of vapes and edibles. Currently, they even have a couple of grams of top-shelf live rosin on offer for the dabbers out there. You’re in good hands at Chronic Brooklyn.
Matawana
Address: 533 5th Ave
Go for: The merch
In Park Slope, a few avenues west of the park, is Matawana, Brooklyn’s first Black-woman-owned dispensary. The shop was born out of a clothing and CBD brand that’s been around since 2021. Matawana carries the energy of the legacy market into the legal world, stocking a range of their own Matawana merch alongside a full lineup of flower, vapes, edibles, and more, with standout selections on the current menu from Zizzle and Aeterna, among others.
Misha’s Flower Shop
Address: 299 Knickerbocker Ave.
Go for: Your new friends behind the counter
A huge room with light wood and glass cases and plenty of space to browse, Misha’s Flower Shop is quickly becoming a Bushwick mainstay. Misha’s budtenders are bubbly, knowledgeable, and happy to help you find what fits your mood. The shop has a larger selection of concentrates than most, with standouts on the current menu from Luci and MFNY, not to mention plenty of proper flower, edibles, vapes, and, of course, pre-rolls for a perfect stroll through Maria Hernandez Park—less than a block away.
Grow Together
Address: 2370 Coney Island Ave.
Go for: The flower selection
The very first licensed dispensary to open in Brooklyn, Grow Together has been open for almost a year in Gravesend, supplying south Brooklyn locals and beach trippers with greenery in all forms and flavors. The team at Grow Together are veterans in the budding New York legal market, and the budtenders are well versed in the brands and products they carry and always ready with recommendations if you don’t know what you’re looking for. And with the size of the massive menu at Grow Together, you might need a little help.
Bedford Club
Address: 1102 Bedford Ave
Go for: The vapes
Bedford Club, the first licensed dispensary in Bed-Stuy, is a cozy shop with an exposed brick wall and inviting shelves ready to browse. Flower sells fast here, so it’s helpful to check out the inventory or order online before you stop by, but the selection of vapes and edibles is vast, and no matter what you’re in the mood for, the helpful staff is always down to explore products and find what will work best for your next session.
Gotham Williamsburg
Address: 296 Kent Ave. (the Refinery at Domino)
Go for: The luxury experience
Gotham bills itself as NYC’s luxury dispensary, and its brand-new Williamsburg storefront, inside the historic Domino Sugar Refinery, certainly fits the description. The shop sits in a large, open space with brick arches and clean shelving throughout. Not only does Gotham have a wide selection of legal weed in every style you can imagine—including newly released house-brand edibles with packaging that plays on the history of its waterfront location—it also has a full library of large-format art books to help you spark inspiration.
Beleaf Brooklyn
Address: 1077 Atlantic Ave.
Go for: The edible selection
One of the newest legal dispensaries on the block, Beleaf Brooklyn is holding it down for Crown Heights with a large, bright space surrounded by glass cases packed with product. It may be fresh to the borough, but the shop has a fully stocked menu, with flower, edibles, concentrates, and vapes in plenty of strains and price points from favorite brands like the Ladies and Method Man’s Tical. A chill staff is always there to point you in the right direction.
